MORALITY ≠ LAW.

You can hate an outfit.
You can find a joke disgusting.
You can disagree with a relationship.

That’s your opinion.

But when “I don’t like this” becomes “this should be illegal,” we’ve crossed into a completely different question.

And India keeps mixing these two things: personal morality and criminal law.

Look at the difference.

The GIVA Raksha Bandhan ad faced criticism over Kriti Sanon’s outfit. Criticising an ad, disagreeing with it, or saying you dislike it is one thing.

Shaming, abusing or threatening a woman is something else.

Then look at the Ranveer Allahbadia case. You can think a joke was disgusting. You can criticise it. But being offensive and being criminally punishable are not automatically the same thing.

That distinction matters.

Because moral policing is not the same as law.

So where should personal morality end — and legal authority begin?
